CHARLENE HIGH SAYS: “I firmly believe that less government equals more freedom. I will not only campaign as a conservative, but I’ll also vote at the Statehouse as a conservative…”
MY “CORE FOUR” DECISION-MAKING FRAMEWORK
If you elect me as your State Representative, I’ll have a four-part test that will guide my decision making process on legislative issues. It’s called the Core Four Framework.
Before I decide on a legislative issue, I always ask myself these four questions:
1. Does this legislation match up with my Christian values?
2. Does this legislation pass Constitutional muster?
3. Is this a core function of Government that is necessary and affordable?
4. Will this legislation promote free markets and limited government?
Those are the filters I use to help determine where I stand on the issues at the Capitol.
As your State Representative, I will always work to advance conservative legislation that preserves the quality of life for all families in North Carolina.
I am 100% Pro-Life and Pro-Traditional Family.
Human Life – I believe that life begins at conception and I support legislation that bans abortions.
Families – I believe that marriage is a God ordained institution between one man and one woman. I voted for and supported Amendment #1 passed by North Carolina voters in 2012.
Religious Liberty – I support legislation that protects our religious liberties and will fight any legislation that undermines our abilities to act in accordance with our faith.
Planned Parenthood – In the wake of the videos showing the callousness of Planned Parenthood profiting from the sale of unborn baby parts, I support a complete legal review of Planned Parenthood activities and a cessation of taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood in North Carolina.
I’ll be a persistent advocate at the Capitol for restructuring and reforming the size and scope of State Government. I support limited government and less regulation on our businesses.
I believe it is a fundamental right for law-abiding Americans to possess and carry firearms – whether it is for protection, sports shooting or for putting food on the kitchen table. This constitutional right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed upon.
As Richard Henry Lee, American Statesman, said in 1788, “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people possess arms…”
I believe that small business is the backbone of our economy in North Carolina.
As a small business owner, I will always fight to protect small business from burdensome, government regulations. While our North Carolina economy continues to rebound, I believe we can continue to grow the economy by protecting businesses from unnecessary and burdensome regulations.
I believe we should give more freedom to our local Board of Education since they know the needs of our district better than do the politicians and bureaucrats in Raleigh.
We should provide incentives to recruit the brightest and best college students to enter the education workforce. To attract and retain the very best teachers, we should continue efforts to increase teacher pay to the national average.
